Choosing your venue: a practical guide

Elford Village Hall can be adapted for a host of different events be they formal or informal,  pleasurable, practical or simply just having a good time.

When you know what kind of event you need just have a look at the venue and the various facilities to see whether these can be used or adapted for your use. We can give you the benefit of our past experience:

Main Hall

This can be used empty or furnished. There are 140 chairs suitable for auditorium or an arrangement in a cabaret style which could incorporate a small dance area as well.

We have a range of 6 small square tables 8 medium sized oblong tables and 11 larger tables. Furthermore there are 10 round tables available at a small charge

There is a curtained stage at one end accessed either from the hall or rear passage.

Jubilee room

This is set off the main foyer and can accommodate 30 people. It is ideal for a small meeting room and is usually set up with six small tables However the room is often used for serving food presented from the kitchen. There is a large chiller and Bain Marie which are stored behind purpose-built counters. These can be used for serving food

The double doors to rear provide access to the terrace and garden and double doors to the front provide access

onto the main hall with a further door to the kitchen.

Kitchen

The kitchen has been designed as a practical unit . Food can be prepared and cooked although this is NOT A catering kitchen and we would not recommend full preparation of food for practical reasons.  There is a full range of cutlery and crockery, fridge and dishwasher. Basic  cooking facilities are provided with a range cooker and two microwave ovens.

Bar/Servery

The bar is accessed off the kitchen and from the front with sliding shutters. There is a chiller and glass washer.

Shakespeare Room

This is another separate room capable of accommodating 30 people: it is almost the identical size to the Jubilee room. It has a separate base unit sink for independent use. This room is ideal for private meetings but can also be used as preparation/dressing room  for access to the stage for productions and DJs. The rear passage provide a separate access to this room which could be self-contained.

First floor studio

Suitable as a third meeting room this will accommodate approximately 20 people. Ideal for individual meetings or a quieter area during large events

Gardens

There is a garden to the rear with lawn area and terrace. The orientation allows a sunny area during the summer periods.

There is a timber gazebo ideal for barbecues or a setting for photographs

Carpark

There is a carpark to the front for about 16 vehicles with two allocated disabled places

Food

There is a small ergonomically designed kitchen which is suitable  for preparing food but not necessarily cooking from scratch.

If you are considering employing outside caterers we can provide you with a List of local firms who have worked in the hall previously.

We would recommend that anybody preparing food has a current hygiene certificate

Catering facilities include a range cooker, 2 microwave ovens, Bain Marie, large chiller, fridge

Unfortunately excessive smoke/heat when preparing food will set off the fire/smoke alarms

Bar

The hall is licensed for the sale of alcohol. This is at the discretion of the premises supervisor.

Therefore if you intend to sell alcohol we can provide the name of an approved provider who will normally charge nothing as long as there are 100 guests

Viewings

However please note that the hall is run by group of local unpaid volunteers
